The Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) is the world’s largest and most influential wine competition, where the wines are judged by 270 judges with titles both Master of Wine and Master Sommelier from around the world. Due to its rigorous judging process, the competition enjoys high international prestige.
At this year’s 17th Decanter World Wine Awards, our wine Motnik received 95 points and was awarded a GOLD MEDAL. Single Vineyard Motnik is a one of a kind Rebula, standing out from all our other wines. This orange wine is macerated for ten months, undergoing a special process which gives it its gold colour. Its full body and vibrant freshness, so typical of Rebula variety, is complemented with intoxicating herbal aroma. The wine combines the old tradition of Brda region and the contemporary knowledge and interpretation of one of the most prominent Slovenian oenologists, Darinko Ribolica, and our cellar man, Igor Skubin.
In 2014, we selected and handpicked Rebula from the Lisičk vineyard, situated on the steep slopes over the Neblo village. All year round, this terraced vineyard, growing on a typical Opoka soil, has been carefully cultivated according to the sustainable production principles.
