Quercus wins new medals at SWA

The Sommelier Wine Awards is a wine competition with a difference. As the UK’s only on-trade wine competition, it focuses entirely on wines aimed at the on-trade. Wines with general distribution on the high street are not permitted to enter, except for sparkling and fortified wines, or merchants’ online-exclusive wines.

Since the competition started in 2007 it has grown to become the first point of reference for the UK’s on-trade wine buyers as well as the main competition for wines trying to increase their presence in hotels, pubs, bars and restaurants across the world.

The judges are carefully selected and include Master Sommeliers and Masters of Wine who all serve or buy wine for their venues in the on-trade, or are leading consultants developing wine lists.

We are happy to announce that at this year’s competition our Quercus Rebula 2019 won a bronze medal and Quercus Cabernet Merlot 2018 which we sell only on the demanding UK market, received a gold medal.

Quercus is one of the most popular premium wine brands in Slovenia which also receives multiple awards each year, attesting to its constant quality. In 2020 Quercus brand is commemorating its 20th anniversary with a refreshed image. Back in 2000, Klet Brda created a visionary and daring brand of premium wines, cultivated on selected sites in Goriška Brda. This marked the beginnings of the Quercus brand which soon became one of the most popular wine brands in Slovenia. With its distinctive flavour, characterised by the Brda region, Quercus has also won the hearts of numerous wine lovers abroad and is now being exported to 28 countries around the world.
